Photography - for fun, get no money from it

I Enjoy tinkering with my reef tanks, working on my 69 Camaro, grilling and occasionally crew on a top alcohol flat bottom drag boat.

Here's a vid of my reef.

And a pic of the boat I work on when my wife gives me a weekend pass. Used to be a regular crew member (my best friens/ old roomie is the owner/driver) but getting married and having a baby will kill that.

I've just started brewing - three batches in the past month, another likely next week, all partial mash. My "main" hobby is amateur astronomy. I have two semi-automated observatories in my back yard which are primarily used to perform time-sequence photometry of cataclysmic variable stars.

Now THERE'S a hobby!

Did you grind your own mirrors or did you purchase your telescopes?

I'm a boot man myself. We have a poor excuse for a park in my small town, but it's more of just a hang out for the trash and drug dealers. Two neighboring towns have decent parks though. But I haven't owned a pair of skates for about 5-6 years now.

*edit*
Wow, man, that is a sweet park! Assuming it's the right one.

besides brewing?

Reading, writing (fiction) and shaving.

Yes, shaving. As in vintage double edge razors. Used to own a bunch but narrowed it down to two. Along with that I built a large assortment of shaving creams, soaps, and razor blades. I'm set for several years. Even with all I spent, it's less than I would have spent in a year on the newest Gillette cartridges.

Brewing has taken a large role since the birth of my daughter. My hobbies have varied as the years progress.

1) Lead Guitar, played in band for four years while an undergraduate in university. Still play select songs for my family.

2) Fishing, since I was small I have loved catching all kinds of fish and cleaning them and eating them. This ranges from Fly fishing with hand tied flies to trolling, using deptth charts and color charts and the like.

3) Hunting, I recently took up hunting due to the overwhelming presence of guns in my married family. I started duck hunting, and since acquiring various decoys and blinds, and paint, etc, I haven't looked back on this hobby. I still love deer, turkey, and dove hunting, though.

4) Vehicle maintenance. I haven't paid a mechanic in over 6 years for working on a vehicle. With the correct tools and mechanical insight, vehicle maintenance is a very rewarding hobby.

5) Beer drinking. Need I say more?

6) Canoeing. This has been hard since the pregnancy and daughter being born, but SWMBO and I loved blazing new trails in open streams and rivers in the midwest.

7) Camping. Any time spent outdoors without running water is time spent well, especially for the soul. Dig a latrine and suck down a homebrew.....OK!

8) Being a dad to my little girl. This is both a profession, and a hobby :). Nothing better. Born 6/26/10 Emma Mae

Father and husband, of course

Hockey (watching or trying to play)(surprised noone else has this hobby?!)
