Recently started brewing kombucha and have searched the web high and low for answers on all my questions and concerns. My first batch took forever, but did yield a great batch, which we flavored and gave a second ferment that is now a delicious blueberry kombucha.

The baby that was produced was a very thin film, with bubbles of what appears to be yeast underneath. It was small so we transferred it with the mother to our second batch which is currently brewing. It doesn't seem to have grown much, but I'm wondering if after this batch, i can remove and use it as a mother for a new batch? I actually have two really thin babies.

What does this look like to you? I've attached 2 pics of it. I'm assuming the dark spots are just yeast.

Also my booch in the fridge is getting some yeasty clumps along the top, all normal, yeah? ImageUploadedByHome Brew1401539119.504912.jpg

Appreciate any advice or help! ImageUploadedByHome Brew1401538971.931787.jpgImageUploadedByHome Brew1401539015.486974.jpg

Also- hate to ask the same typical questions as many do, just would like a few sets of experienced eyes on this stuff :) sorry for the repetition

What dark spot do you mean????

Your ferment looks kind of okay to me, but since you say that the baby is pretty thin, that could mean that your ferment is (too?) slow...
