He's a regular trader on another site. Trades and then sells for profit. You should see the trade he has up now.
You don't know about Vonck? It's one of those bottles that no one knew existed until Jean opened one while Vinnie Cilurzo was at the brewery, then suddenly everyone (read: Joel) had to get it. IIRC he paid 3k so it's utterly unsurprising that's the going rate.Weird, I'm sure the link I clicked said kriek. Either way.

It's actually kind of interesting to me how cheap some of these things are. I guess there aren't any super rich guys into beer to whom 10k is nothing.
I may have my chronology wrong, but I think the facebook post was the start of it. I'm unaware of Lively's video. Was this before or after Chris Lively randomly pulled one out while showing off the Ebenezer's cellar in an online video?

That label is in insanely good condition for being 25 years old.
Most labels at least looked weathered by that age...

First video on the left, about 1:30 in he starts pulling some beers. I think he incorrectly identifies it as "1999" rather than 1990, but based on the label it looks to be the JF Vonck. I don't know when the video was taken though.

Is geuze and bet it goes closer to 4000. Crazy but considering the wine or whiskey or whatever equivalent to something that rare....not really that outlandish.
Not if you know how to take care of them. I've seen 100+ year old bottles with labels in mint condition, so it's not unheard of.
Haha, I didn't even know we had that video on the site. That video was uploaded 5 years ago according to Vimeo, well before JVR opened one and put it on FB. The existence of Vonck has been known for a long time on the internet anyhow, as it was referenced on a label collector's site that might as well have been created in the 90's.
It's as much a gueuze as Lou Pepe Gueuze is a gueuze. It's more like a proto-LPG w/out priming sugar or a Bruocsella bottled at two years instead of three. JVR said they called it a gueuze becuse of the carbonation. Either way, a gigantic meh.
And I call ******** on the reasoning that that is "fake" as well, not the least of which is that bottles from that time frame in the 90's are known to have had black foil and the foil pattern is consistent with other 90's bottles. Methinks a certain someone is calling it fake because they want to still be known as the only person to have had/discovered this bottle.
**** I hate lambic.
Happen to have pics of vintage labels in good condition? Always down for old beer porn. I can even fap to vintage BudweiserNot if you know how to take care of them. I've seen 100+ year old bottles with labels in mint condition, so it's not unheard of.
