The real problem is that if they don't send the bottle you can't file a paypal dispute over a gift payment.
You can gross up the purchase price and pay the fee yourself in order to get some insurance. PayPal (and your credit card company, if necessary) will fix it if the item is not received. That said, in my experience sellers as a group are more responsive and reliable as a group than traders are.

Since we are veering off the MBC listings I thought I would share this collection of "very rare beers... that we will never, ever see these 4 available together. Ever." from Craigslist. So rare that he doesn't even post a price, just make an offer and he might consider it.

Here's a hint:

Holy **** thanks. That made my day. I'm scared to even ask what he wants for them. "SOOPER RARE DOODE. $300"

Was actually going to post the same thing when I decided to contact the guy who is selling the intense red and (politely) tell him that Intense red had wide distro in the US and was about $15 a pop... here's what he wrote back:

Hey bud
Just a friendly
You must be one of those think out loud ebay types. Even though you are wrong I mean seriously... it's only money.
Get a grip.

Clearly not a linguist or a someone who understands market trends...

hahaha - I think I will run down to my store tonight and send him a photo of the shelf full of IR they have, for science.

What the hell does that even mean? Think out loud ebay types? I understand those words individually, but together they boggle my mind.

I want to do a beer series based on his writing.

Just a friendly -- super-thick milk stout inspired by the Fribble
Think out loud ebay types -- vinegar barrel adjunct stout
It's only money -- kolsch made with heirloom grains for $20/12 oz
Get a grip -- Just a friendly left on shelves for three years

Sure you can add the fee yourself but the shadiness comes from the fact that the seller asks for a gift payment and usually doesn't even mention this^^. If you are a seller that doesn't want to pay the Paypal fee you should just tell the buyer to pay the 3% on top of the purchase price. If I'm looking to drop $500 on a bottle I'm not sending the money via Paypal gift and I'm not buying from someone who wants me to.

Just give them references and have them ship first...

My friend told me the other day, "Hey, why don't you sell your growlers on ebay?" I gave her a "wuuut?" look and she said "My uncle sells empty growlers from Russian River and stuff for like $30 on eBay! People from the midwest love them!"

I think she's full of **** and her uncle is just scamming people. But I have no idea

Not wine-shaped. Not buying.
