First all grain today.…After 7 or so extract Brew's, I took the plunge and went all grain. Really wasn't a whole lot different as I was used to doing partial mash before.

So today I did a milk stout recipe...All was well during the mash-but my mash temp was about 4 degrees higher than calculated. Oh well, stirred and hit 152 and sealed the cooler.

A half hour later, I noticed my oats and flaked barley still sitting on the counter. Crap! Added it and a little hot water to keep at 152.. Mashed for 75 minutes to be safe. Other than that, things went pretty smooth. We shall see in 2 weeks, lol!

that would not be so funny except

A lot of us have been there before

make a check list and use it, that's how a lot of us keep track

keeps the CRS syndrome from popping up

Sounds like your first all grain went pretty smoothly. I've done quite a few now and I consider it a huge success if it goes that smoothly. Maybe I shouldn't drink so much while I brew.
