I'm trying to come up with a fruity/citrusy pale ale for my girlfriend. She can't drink a lot at a time because she's breastfeeding our baby boy. I figured a gallon would last a while. She likes them pretty hoppy, but not a kick-your-teeth-in. I tried to scale down a five gallon and this is what I came up with. How does it look?

Recipe specifics:

Style: American Pale Ale
Batch size: 2.0 gal
Boil volume: 3.0 gal
OG: 1.054
FG: 1.013
Bitterness (IBU): 72.2
Color (SRM): 8
ABV: 5.3%

Grain/Sugars:

2.00 lb Ultralight LME, 66.0%
1.00 lb Munich LME, 33.0%
0.2 lb Crystal 40L, 1.0%

Hops:

0.30 oz Chinook (AA 11.5%, Pellet) 60 min, 33.9 IBU
0.10 oz Citra (AA 14.0%, Pellet) 25 min, 9.6 IBU
0.10 oz Galaxy (AA 14.0%, Pellet) 25 min, 9.6 IBU
0.10 oz Citra (AA 14.0%, Pellet) 15 min, 6.8 IBU
0.10 oz Galaxy (AA 14.0%, Pellet) 15 min, 6.8 IBU
0.10 oz Citra (AA 14.0%, Pellet) 5 min, 2.7 IBU
0.10 oz Galaxy (AA 14.0%, Pellet) 5 min, 2.7 IBU
0.30 oz Citra (AA 14.0%, Pellet) dry hop
0.30 oz Galaxy (AA 14.0%, Pellet) dry hop

Yeast/Misc:
0.5 Vial WLP 001
Whirlfloc, 0.25 tablet 10 min

Something doesn't add up with your grain bill.

It shows the crystal malt as 1% when I calculate 6.25% by weight. .20 lbs of a 3.2 lb grain bill.

Is the Munich LME a blend, or is it 100% Munich? If 100% it might be a bit much Munich for pale ale. Around 10-15% Munich is about the max I would put in a pale ale.

The IBU also seems a little high for a pale ale style. I would target around 40 IBU. You could just remove the 60 minute addition. You don't need it for a beer like this.

Hmmm not sure what happened with the crystal there but it's working now. So maybe 2.5 lbs Ultralight and .5 lbs Munich? That would put Munich at about 15%. Getting rid of the Chinook brings the IBUs to About 38.
