I have a 1.5 pint Mason jar of WY3333 yeast slurry in my fridge, from January 2017. It has been stored refrigerated the whole time. Still good? (it looks fine; I haven't opened it to smell it) If I want to keep this strain of yeast but don't plan to brew anything with it soon, should I use it to make a starter, then refrigerate (or freeze) that and pitch the rest of the old stuff?

Quite old but it may be slightly possible there is some life in there. Use 100 ml of the yeast in a 1.010 1 liter starter to check for life. Use the shaken not stirred method or intermittent swirling instead of a stir plate. Easier to see krausen formation when a stir plate is not used.
