I have about 10lbs of crushed grain, a bag of Safale - 05, and and 2 oz of hops that have been in their airtight containers for about.. 4 months. Should I brew a 5 gallon batch with it? I figure I'll make the batch either way just wondering if anyone has used crushed grain that old. The stuff was stored in my kitchen at around 75 degrees.

the hops are the most at risk, are they in their original air-tight bag?

If the hops smell off, cheesy then dump them. I suspect the other ingredients will be ok.

Grain, hops, yeast. Add water and you have beer my friend. Think about beer 500 years ago. I would bet what you make with your ingredients is better than anything from the 1500's.

Just to follow up on this. The beer I ended up with was not drinkable lol. Though I screwed up just about everything I could think of piloting my new brew system.
