Ok I just racked to secondary have a few questions
My hydrometer reading today was 1.012 so I figured I would just rack to secondary. I started with 1.040 that was 12 days ago.

1. Did I move it to early?
2. How long should I keep it?
3. The plastic carboy I used was 5 gals (well it has 5 on the outside) when i racked it, the beer diabout are it to the to it's about 5 inches of space from the beer to top, is this bad?

Well I'm trying a all grain Sasion tomorrow any pointers

With a 1.040 OG,it might have needed top knock off a couple points yet. Always check for FG before racking anywhere.

With the average brewer's set up & skills,it usually takes more than 12 days. Only your hydrometer & time will tell. So leave it a few more days & check it again. If the numbers are the same, bottle it. If not wait some more.

Well, that's the problem. Not leaving it in primary to do so could cause it to stall & not drop into the FG range for the kit or recipe.

That was really tough to read, did you write it while drunk?

Don't use a secondary unless you have a very good reason.
Leave your beer in primary for 3 weeks, then bottle.
