OK how do you say it?

I didn't know what forum to put this under, but since I think of this weird stuff while I'm drunk I'll post it here. How in the nine hells do you pronounce wyeast? My LHBS only carries white labs, and no one I know has used wyeast before. My mind keeps saying it 'why-yeast' but that can't be right. Now if you'll exsuce me, I have some bottles to cleanse out.

Same here. I've never heard anyone pronounce it and I was wondering the same thing.

All three of the Why-yeast employees I know pronounce it that way.

The Native American (Multnomah tribe) name for Mount Hood is Wy'East.

One can only wonder how the Japanese deal with the name.

wai-iisuto ("why east-toe"). But whether it's "yeast" or "east" in English, it'll still be iisuto in Japanese because they can't have y before i.
