EHR-MAH-GAHD Untappd is down!!! What do I do?!
Did some further reading: http://help.untappd.com/kb/beer-guidelines/how-are-ratings-determined-on-untappdIt's bayesian, so beers with fewer ratings have a lower rating.
That's literally the entire point. The fewer ratings something has the less confident you are that it deserves those ratings. Does this bias the system against small releases? Yes, by design. Because, again, with small releases you have way less confidence that they're actually good. This is the reason everyone flipped out when BA lowered their threshold for the top 100 to 25 reviews, it made the lower half of the list a neverending rotation of flavors of the month. That's bad design.Still kind of frustrating to know beers with fewer ratings are more susceptible to being tempered by this system.
It's not hijacking, a lot of new badges are sponsored and so the sponsor gets to pick the parameters of the badge (within reason). Angel City (whoever that is) just chose to call it that.I'm beyond drinking beers to chase badges at this point but I was happy to see a "Happy Birthday L.A." badge--that is, until I noticed I have to drink 3 Angel City beers to get it. Seems ****** that any random brewery can hijack a city/regional badge like that with what, money I suppose? Just sayin'. /rant
I fully understand what you're saying. However, a "Happy Birthday LA" badge would make more sense is you simply had to drink 3 beers made in LA (or LA county, whatever). The fact that they could sponsor a badge and name it after the entire city irks me. There's no right or wrong, just annoyance (esp. cuz their beers suck for the most part). It's not hijacking, a lot of new badges are sponsored and so the sponsor gets to pick the parameters of the badge (within reason). In addition, we’ve made some updates to how our ratings system will work. Starting now, when you check-in to a beer, your rating will be applied to that specific check-in instead of directly to the beer. This means if you change your rating on a specifc beer, it won’t change your overall rating to what you chose that second time, but instead will calculate an average based on all of your ratings. This allows you to rate your beers based on how they were in that specific check-in experience.
I wonder how this will affect a person's top beersWell looks like a lot of you guys are going to be happy:
No, it's been flagged for deletion.
I'm surprised this doesn't exist. Suggest it on the forums, though it's probably been suggested before.Ability to search your current friends list. Sometimes I want to look up a specific person's profile to check out a beer they had recently, look at their ratings, etc. When you have a huge list of active friends it's a pain to scroll through, and your "feed" grows so quickly that looking back through that quickly becomes infeasible after a day or two.
Highly doubt that would ever happen. They like the gamification, but I don't think they want it to be a global contest. That would just create problems when it's a trust-based system. The top drinkers on individuals beers is probably the only thing like that we'll ever seen.Top users. Basically be able to see who have checked in the most beers, most uniques, etc. Maybe a top 25 list or whatever.
Friend requests don't require any admin action, if you friend someone and they accept then that's that. So someone hasn't actually accepted yet, or something's gone haywire in the system. If it still shows as pending in an hour or two and you're both sure you've clicked "accept", then open a ticket in the help forum.I loaded it on my phone finally a few months ago, as a fella I know back East wanted to spy on my drinking habits!
he sent a friend request, I think/thought I accepted, but we're still not connected and the request's status is "pending". I'd hate to bug these busy guys try to get the request accepted, but might.
this app is like Facebook for beer geeks. I like it, but once in a while I'll get friend requests from people I just don't know, just like Facebook!
I sure appreciate being able to find what's being tapped locally, "LIKE"
Hmm, in that case someone probably clicked "reject" on accident (or on purpose, I guess). You should post on the forum.thanks, will do. this request had been pending for probably six weeks
No. Badges are only for events where the coordinators contact the Untappd guys well in advance, and there's no way JVR will ever do that.Is there going to be a Zwanze badge?

Yes. On that user's page, you can click on the number of uniques and it brings you to a page like this (or just replace the name in the link below with their username and it should work)This may have been covered (and if so please point me to the right page of this thread) but is there a way to search a user's unique checkins? I'm looking to send some new ticks but I'd hate to go through all 3500+ check ins to see if the dude has had Chelada before.
I always chuckle to myself when someone hits a milestone (1, 250, 500, 1000, etc...) and is drinking some ******** beer that they say they hate. Plan dat ****, man!![]()
