6-8 drinkers, 3 days, 106 bottles. No survivors.

If you remember, how were The Anchient One and Smoking Jacket?

If you remember, how were The Anchient One and Smoking Jacket?

Surprisingly, I remember almost all of them.

Ancient One was pretty ridiculous. Really nice bourbon character and a great balance between aged, mellow bbomb and fresh. Smoking Jacket was good, not great. The peated whiskey was pretty tame, which I preferred, but overall it just wasn't on the level I'd hoped it would be. Still a tasty Fremont barrel beer though.

I have another bottle if anyone is looking. Smoking Jacket, not Ancient One, sadly

WWE Draft party last night went from 4 people to 9 over the past two days somehow. It got a little crazy for a Tuesday.

Mosaic Sylph from Deciduous is delicious. Tropical fruit.
Melcher was top notch for Trillium.
Bourbon Dark Lord was sweet sweet bourbon motor oil. I like Dark Lord, so I thought it was rich and tasty.
2012 Foune was still full of apricot. Super dry and like biting fresh fruit.
WoL Anchorage 2016 is fantastic. Light, grassy, and fruity with plenty of Brett and hints of white wine.
That Oxbow Farmhouse Pale is nothing like BAFPA. Tasted like a hefeweizen. Weird.
Black Note 2016 is the first version of that beer I really enjoyed. Super roasty with coffee notes.
I wish Bouket was cheaper because I'd love to drink that beer all the time.
2013 Assassin delivered on the hype for me. Balanced barrel and stout with lots of maple notes.
The 2013 Hopslam gushed like crazy. It was hilarious. Did not taste that one myself.

It was a small tasting but one I have been greatly looking forward to. I provided the B2 and a buddy provided his only bottle of B3. I was surprised at how different each one was. The B2 was more aggressive and in your face. More bitter and lots of bourbon. But still amazingly delicious. The B3 was smoother. Easier to drink. Less boozy despite the Abv. Whiskey was there. But the mouthful just coated your whole mouth with complexity. b3 was great to enjoy.

I'd really like to add a batch 1 and set up a full vertical tasting. The batch 2 is congac barrels though, correct? Did you think it gave off a more 'bourbon' profile? Either way, looking forward to doing it someday. Did you prefer one over the other or just enjoy them in different ways?

I don't know why I said bourbon. I was drunk when I wrote that I think. Hehe. Cognac flavor is what I meant. I preferred the B3. I felt it was smoother but just as complex.

Whenever one of us bottleshare peeps has a new baby, we try and bring out some quality stuff to celebrate at our local bottleshare spot on Wednesday nights. A number of fantastic beers. Backyard is amazing and jammy right now. That vanilla Midnight Still is a marshmallow. Fantastic beer. Pinot du Fermier is bright, tart, and crisp. The cascade hopped Arthur is one of my favorite HF saisons now. The R&D Vintage 2015 is as good as your top tier Belgium gueuze blends. Raspberry Soak is so dry and fruity. Light and wonderful with a salad. French Toast tastes like french toast if you're into that. Spice Wars is a nutmeg bomb. Blueberry Flanders has mellowed some but is still a very tart but very good Flanders. Kentuckley is pretty bourbon forward with some solid coffee roast. Outskirts is a diabetes abomination. That was the only dud.
