Head Hunter is MUCH > Jai Alai

And obviously Heady and Pliny will win out over the "singles".

Anyone who has yet to track it down owes it to themselves to try Columbus Bodhi. I'm far from an Ohio-homer, and although I like Head-Hunter.... I'm not the biggest IPA guy in the world as it is, but Bodhi is ridiculously good.

PHOTO TIME!!! :)

I also want to thank a lot of really incredible people on TalkBeer for helping with this. most of these bottles were acquired one at a time and you guys didn't fully bend me over when trading me for these either. Retail1LO Sean9689 sweemzander cfrances33 stxSS07 and at least 5 other people that I can't think of right now. you guys totally made this happen so I really appreciate it!

Some tasting notes and overall thoughts - http://adam-jackson.net/beer/reviews-the-bcs-tasting-that-will-never-be-repeated/

Of course I am posting this after Adam Jackson 's ridiculous tasting, but here is how I spent my afternoon:

R7lHICu.jpg

**** I need to start taking an actual camera to these things.

Highlights:
Velvet Merkin- Stupid Good, especially when tasted next to Merlin.
Serendipity- Duh
Gilgamesh- Awesome beer, gets better with age.
Like Is Like- The Florida homers might actually be right about this beer.
Cinnamon Roll'd Wake-N-Bake- Great depth of flavor, with nice delicate vanilla highlights.
Brandy Bois- Made me wish I had snagged a bottle earlier this month. Restored my faith in Brandy Barrel possibilities.

Lowlights:
Brux- No Brett character whatsoever. No flavor at all actually.
BA Alpha Klaus Cassis- Green Apples!
Barrel Roll #1 Immalman- Froze during shipping and ended up being flat. Not the beers fault, but didnt really look or tasting like am Imperial Porter.
BA Long John Donut- Green Apples! Actually less than on tap at 4 Elf. If you are still sitting on a bottle, give it time?

Honestly, Adam Jackson, I think the stand out for that night was the Florence and the Flora. My god those two beers blew me away. Overall, I had a great time and want to thank you again for having me up... even if I did almost die trying to get to your house

That's the problem with Hill Farmstead beers. I try to only drink them by themselves because I'll spend 6 months putting together a tasting and a shelf $10 saison from my local brewery is better than everything we opened. ha.

Thanks for coming and I'm glad you made it home alright.

I've heard great things, but have never gotten to have Bodhi or White Rajah. Heard those are both solid Ohio IPAs.

God damn, that's a **** ton of Blabaer. We did a mini vertical in May with SeanT and 2011 was also the best. Had that '05 FF at Mikkeller bar in Copenhagen and loved it. Wish it was easy to get more of it. Awesome sour bomb! You guys had a nice time indeed.
All the flavor in the 05 was in the dregs! The most apricot I've ever had in a beer. Top 5 beer I've ever had.

No photos, but I did a beer tasting as part of a food tasting dinner. The theme was cheap version of something vs. the expensive version. Nothing too interesting with the food but the beer and wine results were definitely of interest:
  • The lady friend brought a $40 pinot and a $4 pinot
  • I brought PBR and Firestone Pivo Pils (Pivo being about 2x as expensive as PBR) - I know PBR is technically an adjunct lager, but it self identifies as a pilsner.
In the end, almost everyone guessed the expensive wine wrong and the (relatively) expensive beer right.

How do you leave out a Magnum of 3F OG?

after it was dry, it was promptly hoisted up on the bar's graveyard bottle collection.

I think that's a 2011 Uberliner.

you, sir are correct...and it was drinking fantastic. the big surprise for me was the block 15 tropic storm and the dark horse sasparila 666...and all dem prairie brews (bomb, pirate, noir, vanilla noir)...so much good beer.
