I think this is the right thread for this question:

My friend is having a bachelor party this summer. We were considering renting a place on the coast in the general Tillamook area. De Garde would be an obvious visit, but are there other fun things to do in the area? How are beaches in the summer? Hiking in this area? Any decent towns along the coast? I'm thinking we could rent a party bus and do an evening in Portland since it's not THAT far.

Manzanita is a nice little town and a bit lest touristy than many of them between Seaside and Tillamoo. The beach is lovely there as is the beach and scenery at Oswald West SP and Cape Falcon (nearby). The hike and view on Mt. Neahkahnie is pretty sweet as well. You all have lots of good options!

I did my bachelor party in OR. We stayed a couple nights in Tmook. Did Pelican, DG, and hit the sand dunes on rented ATVs, so much fun! Then we stayed a few nights in Portland, hitting the breweries and strip clubs around there.

Lincoln City is a great place to stay as well if you feel like being a degenerate gambler for a night - there's a casino. Other than that, depending on what you're wanting to do, Manzanita is a fun place with a great beach and so is Pacific City. If you're planning on doing some fishing Garibaldi, Newport, or Depoe Bay are great towns.

if you stay near Tillamook, this place is amazing. stayed here a few years ago for Labor Day and I think I've seen the recommendation passed around on this board a few times. excellent spot for a group.

If you want to be as close as possible to Tillamook/dG AND be on the coast, Netarts and Oceanside are your best bets. Netarts has The Schooner where you can get decent fish & chips and pitchers of Breakside IPA pretty cheap. I don't think there are any bars in Oceanside though.

Otherwise, I'd second Pacific City. It's about 30 minutes south of Tillamook & there are a ton of Airbnbs to choose from. Pelican, despite having "just okay" beer, has one of the best brewpub views in the world, and Twist will have Pliny, Blind Pig, and a good selection of local bottles & cans to drink. And you can hit the Sportsman's pub for late night libations and local flavor.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The other area we are considering is Hood River. Any thoughts on there vs. the coastal options?
Hood River is my ****. I love that town. Tons of recreation options especially with mt hood being right there. Also you have pFriem, stoked and solstice pizza all next to each other. If you're doing outdoor stuff Hood River is an A+ spot

Plus, 20ish minutes out of town in Parkdale you have Solera, the other Oregon brewpub with one of the best views in the world.

If you want to do Portland, would just recommend staying there one of the nights instead of party bussing there and back. Probably flying in and out of there anyway, no?

Honestly, it depends a bit on what you want to do and what kind of landscapes you like, though there's a lot of overlap in both places. You really can't go wrong with either Hood River or the Oregon Coast, and both have great hiking, fishing (in season), and watersports. The beach is way better on the coast, but you have more beer options in Hood River (though no dG). The coast will be usually be cooler temperature-wise, though it also usually has better sunsets. Hood River is a lovely little town with lots of more rural spots around it, but that's also a good description of the coast.

Confirmed, we are doing Hood River (so now this isn't the right thread).

This spot is definitely on the agenda. Probably going to do a brewery day. Other than Solera, pFriem, stoked and solstice, what are other worthwhile spots.

Also probably doing a rafting day if anyone has tips on that. I don't know **** about rafting or Hood River!

I follow Ferment Brewing Co on Instagram, looks like a really cool spot but I've never had the beer so maybe someone else can chime in.

I see it's a stone's throw from Pfriem, so that was appealing. We'll probably get a party bus to get around a bit more, so we aren't limited to the downtown area.

I went to Ferment with abawol01 the last time we were in Hood River and it's in a super rad building architecturally but definitely had an upscale vibe that was not really my scene. I've felt comfortable everywhere I've been in Hood River with a post-hike sweaty/muddy thing going on but less so there. Just my two cents. We finished our one beer and went over to pFriem. However, since they're so close it's probably worth checking out just to form your own opinion.

Confirmed. Definitely an upscale vibe. I believe the term we used was "built to be sold to inbev". Food looked good and beers were alright. Worth checking out for the architecture tho.
