The complaints about the price of this glass all over Facebook are amusing. People keep bitching even when informed about the base price of the glass!

I really think that some consumers (and this isn't just beer) simply resent being "priced out" of anything. Like, if they can't afford it (or even if they can but don't assign enough personal value to it), they don't want anyone to be able to buy it. Then they hide this behind claims of "elitism" or something similar.

These are hilarious. Did you see the "maybe some day i will make enough to afford a $60 glass" comment? The guy had like some sort of finance job too. I think the comment's been deleted.

I think they're cool. If it was not a month before Christmas, I'd probably make it happen. I am also not going to cry if I don't get one.

Without having even seen the comment or who posted, under the assumption that this was on BTS I'd be willing to make a substantial bet that guy has either bought/sold bottles on the secondary market, spent a ton of money on a vintage bottle at Bottleworks or Brouwers, or both.

It was not in BTS, it was in the "official" keepers FB group.

Gene, given chemman14's latest shenanigans w/ running this "official" dG Keepers FB group — used to troll dG and spread obvious bs — maybe you could put your response to my prior question into action? For our collective sake, and that of degardebrewing?

It just seems he just complains about everything, I wouldn't call it trolling or misinformation. Honestly I only ever see post if it comes up in my news feed so maybe something else just happened that I missed?

I wouldn't call it trolling or misinformation.

It's both. He created a fake "official" keepers fb group under the guise that it was, well, official. He made it appear to be the actual official group that's endorsed by dG (or at least the one dG is ok with). I didn't belong to it, so I'm not sure what was posted, but it sounds like he was using the platform to denigrate dG, because he is a fuckhead. It also seems clear that at least some members of that group didn't know it was a fake/ troll group.

This was already in effect when I made the above post.

If it weren’t... well I’ll just say that I’m not getting anything we do here entangled with the goings-on within Facebook beer groups, ever, in any way.

You just described a recent election.

I'll go look. Honestly all I have ever seen posted in that group have been him and other complain (a lot) about what bottles and the number of bottles listed, but like I said I haven't really paid much attention. I agree it has been confusing.

edit- ok he has been engaging in trolling this morning. Changing the group name and picture and to look like the other page, that is annoying.

ever since the post from Trevor. He has been changing the name and description of the group to match that of the official group. He is now even changing the picture to match.

This is true nowadays of just about everything of any value and not just monetarily. Beer too expensive? Elitist. Taxes too high in that neighborhood? Elitist. That movie or book was beyond your comprehension? Elitist.

It is no longer okay if something isn't made for everyone.

That's not a bad stance to have, e.g., look at current healthcare system in the US.
Relating luxury goods like glassware and beer to health care. A new twist.

I stand with Nietzsche:
"And how should there be a "common good"! The term contradicts itself: whatever can be common always has little value."
