It's rainy and predicted to be quite windy for the release today. Drive safe and bring a coat!

We'll have bottles for on premise consumption of each of the three new lambic-inspired blends. Plus, Belle Ensemble in 375ml format.
Pretty darn tasty all around. Looking forward to sharing with everyone!

Oh, and pertinent to the debate on time to produce v. pricing, these all took about two years to make. $14 each.

Last minute, if anyone is going up there today or tomorrow and wants to carpool, I can help out with gas money and company! And I could bring a SARA bottle to share (if you want).

Am I the only one who gets bummed always seeing DG 3l for trade. They sell out before I make it to the front of the line every time just to wind up with a FT before them. I need to just plan a random trip from Bend to Tillamook soon and keep my fingers crossed.

I've seen more of them consumed than for trade. I only think I've seen 2 of them listed for trade, but I don't read the boards religiously every day.

I see them pop up pretty frequently on the trade forums. Like I said, I just need to start planning non-event weekends to head out there from time to time so I can quit being salty when I see others trading them away.

Well, maybe I've just missed them. Mostly I've seen the same guy trying to trade the same bottle over and over.

It's not something I'm going to spend a ton of time on, but my quick search now only came up with 4 3L bottles that have been put up for trade, and I'm not sure any of those actually got done. And the one that's up today, which I assume triggered your post is actually just looking to downsize to other de Garde beers in 750ml format.

Maybe it just seems like I've seen more being offered up then, cause definitely feel like I've seen more than 4 between here and BA. Like I said in the last two posts though, I'll just need to make better arrangements so I can grab one for myself soon

I've seen a bunch up for trade on Facebook, but as kscaldef correctly notes, it's almost always the same guy and a few times I don't even think they were seriously for trade, it was just trolling/dick swinging. The most recent FT of one on here is an exception and actually seems to be legitimate.

I know this is like asking "which one is your favorite child" but curious your thoughts on the 3 lambic style beers released. Had a good debate in the tasting room with folks about their favorites and the consensus - though far from unanimous - seemed to be Lucy > Boysen > Deux Tetes.

Maybe I'm too wishy-washy, but I felt like it was a dead heat. That ranking almost seemed to follow from least funky to most funky and, me ... I like they pasture funk. Complete assumptions, and putting thoughts into people's heads, but I felt like coming off of drinking the fruited Bu's, people didn't favor The Boysen as much since it moved away from pure expression of fruit by adding the lambic element ... while with The Lucy it was "easier" to accept the wine grape / lambic interplay. And, finally, I think the funk of Deux Tetes surprised people that were thinking "cider" and, maybe, expecting to be dissapointed. For me that was the big pleasant surprise in that it was so much more substantial and complex than I went in expecting.

And, uh, curious if you named it Deux Tetes expecting that people with poor French comprehension would mistranlate as ...

Either way, nice verbal mischief.

Deux Tetes was a major surprise for me, and although its almost too close to call, I think it may have been my favorite of the three lambic style beers. It was just so clean and funky.

I personally found the aroma of Deux Têtes a little too funky with lots of cow farts, baby diaper and sulfur. Taste was great though, with a pleasant tart, incredibly dry finish that did reminded me of a good, dry European cider. But the aroma was a detractor, IMHO.

I though both Boysen and Lucy were excellent. I gave the edge to Lucy because of the grape aroma and mouth feel. The Lucy had a lively, almost prickly carbonation which reminded me of a good sparkling wine or brut. I felt that worked really well for the beer and partnered with the big juiciness of the grapes. And the nose on it was a little better than Boysen.

But we are splitting hairs here. Both are great beers.
