For the last couple of years, my mom has been insistent that we not buy her any "durable goods" for Christmas, her birthday, Mother's Day, etc. She doesn't need anything, she says. She should know, right? And she is a bit of a pack rat, so it's probably for the best. Food and other consumables are acceptable gifts "if you HAVE to get me something".
When I spoke with her earlier in the week, she suggested I bring her some of my homebrew. Neither of my parents are big drinkers like their oldest child (me), but mom likes a beer now and again. I was certainly planning on bringing some brews to share with mom and dad. I also wanted to bring some beers for my sister and brother-in-law and bottle a few for an old friend I plan on seeing next week. But I was able to put something special together for mom.
What surprised me was that I was able to put together a sample pack for her with 6 different brews! I knew I was brewing a lot, but this gave me a new perspective.
Here's what mom gets tomorrow:
Ed Wort's Hefe
Ed Wort's Pale Ale
Ed Wort's Apfelwein
Pecan Brown Ale
O'Flanagain Standard Stout (still bottle conditioning)
Golden Lemon 5-Grain
