Hey all!
I recently brewed an Oatmeal Stout. Wanting to do something different in terms of just brewing the kit, I wanted to add coffee, cocoa nibs, and bourbon soaked oak cubes. I added all three into my secondary and sampled it a couple of times.
Fast FWD. I cracked a bottle last night and HOLY OAK! I know that fades with time but damn. I guess my beef is that in the oak I taste non of the bourbon. Do these cubes not absorb that much liquid? I soaked the cubes for 2 weeks and can't taste it at all. Also I have no chocolate flavor what so ever either. Just Coffee and Oak. Any suggestions or ideas a to why I have these two problems?
Thanks
