I have an imperial stout that's almost three months into secondary in a corny keg. I decided to add French oak spirals last week. When I did the stout erupted, releasing all the CO2 that had developed to that point during conditioning. I resealed the lid and tended the keg by pulling the relief pin until the foaming stopped, so I don't think there will be any infection issues, but I lost all of that great cask conditioning carbonation. In the week since, I've pulled the pin and realized that the yeast isn't producing any more CO2, so I guess I'll be force carbonating it. Had anyone had something like this happen and, if so, did I just waste months of prep time on a batch that's going to suck?
