I have Swivel Nut connectors on my CO2 lines...

http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/5-16-barbed-swivel-nut.html

...which is great for quick changes, but I'm not so sure about how perfect the connections to the gas disconnects are. The gas disconnects have a plastic 'tip' on them...

... which has to seal against the inside 'flare' of the barb on the swivel nut. Bad description, but if you have this same setup, you'll know what I mean. So the question is...

Would I get a better seal with some sort of tiny O-Ring between the tip of the disconnect and the swivel nut? If so, and if you do this, what size O-ring would be right? TIA!

p.s. - I do know about these...

...but they are fairly 'rigid'

The Flare Washer (Item No: K127) that you reference is the correct thing to use. Yes it is fairly rigid but that is what you should use, especially on SS to SS flare connections. You should use a wrench to tighten the flare nut as well.

Thanks. But what about for my plastic to SS connection?

I'm sorry - I do not understand the question. Please explain "plastic to SS connection".

If you are referring to the connection to the corny keg disconnect connector, you do not need a washer as the disconnect has a "washer" built in as you stated in your first post. No?

I use the nylon washer on any flared fitting. The plastic part that extrudes beyond the SS threads is not as soft as nylon and I don't think this fitting is meant to be 'washer less'.

I don't use washers when connecting swivel nuts to plastic ball lock connectors.
I've only had a problem once, when there was an obvious "gouge" in the ball lock disconnect.

I snug them down fairly tight and have not had any problems (no empty co2 tanks). Maybe I have just been lucky??

I have a few that I came used with a keg, dual regulator and 5 gas disconnects that were part of a soda system. 3 or 4 of them were missing the inner plastic washer. I didn't want to wait for an online order to come in to replace them?. So I went to the local place that has every bolt nut and washer known to man and got some small O-Rings. I slid one down on to the barb then put the nut on and put another inside the nut. Have them on my rig and been like 3 weeks now with no leaks.
