Very cool! Lots of old interesting things hidden all around New York. There used to be a website, not sure if it still exists, run by a guy who finds locations for films to be shot, that documented all these cool old things.
 
Summary: Wow, look at this awesome historic lagering vaults. They will be filled with concrete and destroyed for all time.

I liked the article's description of the guy they claim was the original owner and brewer, saying he wasn't well-known or popular with his craft.
No less than two poisonings at his local residence ... not exactly Rheinheitsgebot having strychnine and arsenic lying around. If his local customer base knew about that, it might've put a slight crimp in profits, if you know what I mean.
 
Looks like the place where The Priest and Leonardo DiCaprio lived at the beginning of Gangs of New York.
