He should have been selling smokey the crack pipe. I am sure lots of crackheads watch infomercials at 3:00 AM

Huh, and I always figured that white, powdery residue in his mustache was Oxyclean.

News is unfortunate, but about as surprising as the revelation that Mark McGuire was on steroids.

Wait- he has a chunk of plaque cause a heart attack and they are blaming hard arteries?

Im confused.

Cocaine can raise the arterial blood pressure, directly cause thickening of the left wall of the ventricle and accelerate the formation of atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries, the release said.

The toxicology tests also showed therapeutic amounts of painkillers hydrocodone, oxycodone and tramadol, as well as anti-anxiety drugs alprazolam and diazepam. Mays had suffered hip problems and was scheduled for hip-replacement surgery the day after he was found dead.
So let me get this straight, he was on anti-anxiety drugs and doing cocaine? Not to mention 3 different pain killers that are extremely addictive. - Dwain

"I'm just shocked," Khubani said. "He was the model of a responsible citizen."

When are people going to realize that there is NO SUCH THING? Sure, there are responsible citizens, but your view of someone on a television screen, or even the guy down the street means NOTHING.

Just because he was doing cocaine doesn't make him a bad guy, either. It makes him pretty damn average.

*******. I suddenly have a lot less sympathy for the man. After watching 'Pitch Men', I kinda started to like him, but this is just stupid. Nice job.

Who'da thunk OMFG! BILLY MAYS HERE!!! would be into coke...

Pitfalls of success & wealth. Socializing with the elites... Many think a good time requires some coke....

He should have sold home brew equipment on tv. Its a better crowd of people to hang with. :tank:

The worst are just bad brewers and drunks. :D

I think this whole charade is bull****. Didnt he die of a bloodclot causing a heart attack or something like that?

Well, I disagree with average but really, to me, it's not about the cocaine, it's the fact that he was mixing drugs that have opposite effects on the body. - Dwain

Yeah, the article says that the coke habit contributed to said heart attack. But I wasn't there at the autopsy, so maybe it is a "charade" as you say.

eh. i'll file this under "i don't care". just cause he did a little llello doesn't make him a bad person.

Yeah, the article says that the coke habit contributed to said heart attack. But I wasn't there at the autopsy, so maybe it is a "charade" as you say.

The initial autopsy showed he died from congestive heart failure (not a blood clot):

The autopsy showed that Mays' heart was heavier than normal because the left ventricle had enlarged, a symptom of heart disease, Adams said.

The toxicology report, which takes 3 - 4 weeks, showed he used cocaine. The medical examiner toxicology reports are the most thorough suite of blood tests you'll find.

Concerning the "charade":

In addition to irritability, mood disturbances, restlessness, paranoia, and auditory hallucinations, cocaine use can cause several dangerous physical conditions. It can lead to disturbances in heart rhythm and heart attacks, as well as chest pains or even respiratory failure. In addition, strokes, seizures and headaches are common in heavy users.

I read a few weeks ago it was a blood clot but whatever.

But I think youd have to do quite a bit of coke to lead to heart failure if you werent already predisposed to it.

Look as 99% of the musicians or Lawyers.

Surprisingly, that's not true. You are correct that predisposition is an important factor for most diseases, but the vast majority of casual cocaine users will die early as a result of their "habit".

Cocaine is a strong contributing factor to:

Several cardiovascular complications are closely related to cocaine use. They include chest pain syndromes, heart attacks, strokes, and fatal and nonfatal arrhythmias. Others include

* myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle)
* endocarditis (inflammation of the inner lining of the heart)
* pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs)
* vascular thrombosis (blood clots in blood vessels)
* dilated cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart)

All of which can lead to a quick death or permanent disability. So, eat a couple extra Big Macs and snort a little cocaine...But don't expect to live to your golden years. ;)
