Not sure when this started, but SWMBO and I call all dogs, "Puppy". I think it's fairly common. Might be another thing to hate about us colonists.

Right now I've got a 4 year old shelty that was the runt of the litter, so she's a little smaller than normal. She's by far the best dog I've ever had though. Love her to death.
If/when I ever get another dog, I've always thought wolves are one of the coolest animals. Actually having one would be different I think though. My neighbor used to have one before he moved to Illinois, where you can't and said it was the most obeying and loyal "dog" he ever had. But they are expensive.

This is(was) my buddy Max..a Great Pyranees/Newfie Mix. When I got him, he looked like a little bear cub with great, big feet....he was the sweetest thing (as can be attributed by the cat calmly sleeping near his head)..My daughter used to ride him like a horse, and he talked, too (sounded just like Chewbacca....hehe)....

He got ate up by liver cancer when he was only 8, my folks swore they would never get attached to another big dog after that, but now they have a Golden who is destined to inherit everything

We currently share our lives with 4 dogs and 2 cats. Two Goldens; Rabb and his son Copper. Two Newfs; Lily and Sam, and 2 dogs in cat suits Mocha and Louise. The cats are Maine Coon cats and act just like they are one of the dogs. The Newfs are special needs rescues as are the cats.

We previously shared our lives with Mac and Murphy twin Goldens that we rescued from a puppy mill, Nic a Bernese Mountain Dog that we rescued due to extreme shyness and 2 Newfs, Boswell and Newman that were also special needs dogs. We lost Mac, Murphy and Nic to cancer, Boswell to old age and Newman to spondylosis of the spine. We also had Tiger a cat we rescued at age 4 and said goodbye at 22 1/2 years old.

All are my best friends, but my all time favorite was a Wolf Hybrid named Talon. I even have an Ode to him printed on my checks:
