ok so i tried to carbonate my cider by adding a 1tsp of sugar to my bottles after it sat in secondary for 2 weeks, was there not enough yeast left to carbonate?
 
I find that if you dissolve the sugar in a bit of hot water first, then add to batch before bottling it works very well. I had the same problems!

If you use on plastic bottle and the rest glass you can check carbonation levels without opening them!
