I began brewing in March 2011. After doing fifteen concentrated boil stove top extracts along comes November and December. Also known as birthday and Christmas. On December 30, 2011 I brewed my first 5g all grain beer with the new brewery.

Before I continue, I want you to know I support my LHBS. The owners and their son are passionate about home brewed beer and I like knowing that if I need something now they have a store with a door I can walk through to get it. As such, I will continue to buy 32oz of StarSan, a staple product for them, for $32. Even though I know I can get it for half that shipped from the dwarf planet Pluto.

But they have this one employee, a family friend of theirs of course...

His MO is to fill the orders, smile at the beer Geeks and cash his check on Friday. He always forgot I bring in my own buckets for malt extract. I got charged a $1 for my own bucket every time. Not to mention he regularly forgot to give you priming sugar when you’re buying one of their kits. Now I know what your thinking. “They always replaced the missing priming sugar and a bucket is only a buck. Stop whining.” Well I’m not whining and I never complained to him or the owners. But that brings us to the purpose of this pointless post...

Today I went in to fill a recipe for brewing tomorrow. (Yeah me! Its Jamil’s American Pale Ale from Brewing Classic Styles and my third all grain batch. My first was Yooper’s current “house ale.” Thanks Yooper, its conditioning, I can’t wait.) Any way, the “family friend” helped me today. I know I don’t have enough time to make a starter so I clearly write “2" on the WLP 001 line of the order sheet. He certainly puts two vials in my bag, but he only charged me for one. I haven’t been keeping an accurate count, but as of right now I think we’re more or less even. Plus, I’ll be mashing in in about 8 hours. (Insert lame happy dance here.)

PS. Are their any Bayou Classic KAB4 owners still alive after putting a fermwrap/heating pad on their propane tanks on cold days?
