Hey folks! Finally got back into brewing after a 12 year absence. Picked up some brewing and kegging equipment on Craigslist and a sanke from my buddy which I immediately turned into a keggle thanks to info on this site. After taking inventory on what I had and needed went to the LHBS and got a 5gal. extract +grains kit for a Baltic porter. Brewed that one up and got it in the bucket and was awakened the next morning by a happily bubbling airlock. Since then I've been lurking around the forums here and find myself saturated with more beer knowledge than my local bar mop. The day before I left for work (I work remotely on 3-week rotations) I put a 10gal. batch of doppelbock into a couple carboys and have several jars going of what I'm hoping will be some great rice wine thanks to SonofGrok's thread. Now back at work with extra time to research and brainstorm I've got several ideas for projects including building a MT and a coffin top keezer. And as you can imagine I've got LOTS of questions. More than a few regarding my current brews.

Should I start posting my questions here or start other threads?

And thanks everyone for all the wisdom I've drawn from you on here so far!

Doppelbock (half of which I hope to draw off an eisbock)

And the rice (I'll save my questions about that for that thread.)

That's a lot of rice wine you have going. That's my next thing to try. Post questions in a new thread with a basic synopsis in the title. It makes it more likely that someone will spot it in the post listing and answer it.

Good luck.

Wait a minute! That big silvery looking thing sitting on top of your burner is a perfect MT, it just needs a suitable bag to put the grains in. Wilserbrewer makes bags just for that kind of mash tun. http://biabbags.webs.com/

RM-MN I'd thought of that, but I think I'd have difficulty maintaining constant mash temps here in Alaska. That day it was 23° outside so I had the kid on to help it boil quicker. Ive been thinking about converting a 10gal Rubbermaid water cooler I have to a MLT with the stainless mesh tubing I've seen here.
