ive been using a sanke 1/6 barrel in my kegerator and had a couple questions.

1- if i want to take off the tap do i need to purge the pressure completely before i twist it off or can i just pull up the lever and twist it off leaving pressure in the keg.

2- i want to start carbonating one keg while dispensing another but i dont want to hook up a beer line to it. if i hook up gas to the tap without pushing down the lever will it carbonate without dispensing beer or do i need to push the lever and block off the liquid passage somehow.

thanks for the help

1. With a sanke tap To disconect just lift the handle and remove.

2. to force carb you will need to block off the liquid out or hook up a line to it. the lever turns on and off the gas

With a sanke, lifting the lever on the D style tap shuts off both the gas and liquid. The lever must be in the lowered position to carbonate or dispense beer. This can actually be helpfull if force carbing one keg, it is easy to shut off another keg. Each keg has its own disconnect of sorts w/ the Tap lever.

edit...i have seen or heard of people using a dime or penny to block the liquid out fitting on the sanke connector in order to carb w/ no liquid tube out.
