I have been on here for a week or so, and I just noticed the introductions thread.

I live and work in Houston, Texas. I am a Civil Engineer, so this hobby seems to be a good fit for me.

I am a few pieces of equipment away from being ready for my first attempt at home brew. I am working a few angles on here and craigslist. Houston area folks - this is your chance to get that extra gear out of your garage before the wife nags you again.

I generally prefer a lighter beer. I like wheats, lagers, and occassionally pale ales. Shiner bock is about the only "dark" beer that I will drink. Stouts are awful.

My other interest include freshwater aquariums, soccer, scouting, and my 2 kids.

I am currently single (post divorce) so I figure now is my chance to give this home brewing thing a try.

Welcome. Keep an open mind about beer styles, many homebrewers find that their palate expands due to the hobby.

I won't mention the domestic that I drink the most for fear that I will be run off the site. I have made an effort to try a few different things, some of which I like, most of which I didn't.

I will keep your comment in mind, but the last thing I need or want is 5 gallons of beer that I have no interest in drinking.

Greetings,

I lived in Galveston for a number of years. Two things I miss alot the Grand Prize BBQ in Texas City And Bosco's crabs at the Stingaree! Lots of great brewing happening in your backyard. Join a homebrew club and have fun!
