I finished and bottled my first beer about 3 weeks ago. It tastes pretty good :mug:. I put oxyclean free in my carboy to clean it out but because of work and the holidays it sat in my closet for basically the past 3 weeks filled with oxyclean and tap water.

Should i just wash it out a bunch of times since its been able to soak so much? Also what is the best way to clean out my bottling bucket and hoses and such? Should i just use normal dish soap or should i use oxyclean free on them also?

Thanks for the help.

I use PBW (Powdered Brewery Wash) by Five Star for cleaning really baked in fermenters, it cuts through the tough gunk left behind really fast. I then use Craftmeister Oxygen Brewery Wash to soak the fermenters in, including bottles and utensils. For sanitizing I use BTF Iodophor Sanitizer even though it has a bad wrap for discoloring buckets and hoses and the iodine smell.

Glass carboy or bucket? Either way, a thorough rinse and a good visual inspection will have you on your way.

I use Oxyclean free for cleaning pretty much everything. I feel like it does a better than soap. The only thing I would recommend is a good rinse with hot water and then rinse with Starsan or some other acidic solution (some people use vinegar, but then you have the smell).

You know how Oxyclean leaves that slick feeling on everything? The Starsan takes it away immediately and sanitizes at the same time (with 30 secs contact time, that is)!
