I have a 2 liter starter going on my new stir plate. The constant clicking of the stir bar is driving the GF crazy. LOL. Any "quiet" stir bars available?

Does your stir bar have a raised teflon ring around the center? This feature tends to reduce that clicking sound. The sound can also be caused by an uneven glass surface on the bottom of the flask. Have you tried moving the flask around to slightly different positions on the stir plate?

One of these solutions will probably work.

You gotta train her. My starters sit on the kitchen counter and clink away. Tell her it's just a fancy snowglobe.....(Actually, I realize I'm just lucky my SWMBO doesn't care....lol)

If it isn't near the stove or the bed, it shouldn't bother her.

OK, OK, I'm kidding.

Can't you just put it in a closet or another room?

Get a new GF?

LOL. I think I'll keep her. She's fine. Just posted on her FB page for someone to please stop the clicking. It is noisy. No Teflon on the stir bar. I did move it around and got it to stop then lost the stir bar and it started bouncing around. It's only til Saturday.

If you have kegs, put one of the small o-rings around it at the middle. If not your LHBS should have some food safe o-rings for dirt cheap.
