I just picked up a nitrogen regulator and noticed that it does not have any kind of gasket or O-ring for the Tank-Regulator connection.

Looking around online I see many regulators that do have a gasket near the tip of the connection, and many others that have no o-ring or gasket whatsoever.

Does anyone else have the same thing? Do I just need to tighten it down really well to the tank?

Thanks

In the US nitrogen, helium and argon tanks have CGA 580 connections. This connection doesn't require an o-ring, and since it's a flare fitting you don't want to use any PTFE tape either. You need to tighten it firmly, but no need to go absolutely nuts or you can damage the fitting.
