Symptoms still persist? That sucks. Have they tested you for Celiacs? You can become gluten intolerant practically overnight and the S/S are consistent. H. Pylori would is a good scenario if that is what you have. Should clear up with a course of antibiotics. Good luck man hope you feel better soon.

Have them give you the breath tests for Lactose intolerance, Fructose intolerance, and excess bacteria in your system.

My GF went through the same stuff last year.

here is my idea. Since you cant drink for a while, at least while this is figured out, brew up some some stuff that will take a long time to meld in the flavors and condition. That way when you are all healed up, voila, great home brew is waiting.

+1... They said that you can't drink, not that you can't brew.

gastritis and ulcers sometimes are caused by extreme stress (was my case) combined with unhealthy food (lots of fat and sugars) and is usually called "a young mans ulcer" - lots of stress, lots of gastric acid, tons of junk food and beer consumed on the go.

so, when I was treating my ulcer, my doc said to me that if I crave some food, I should eat it cause stress caused from cravings actually does more harm than a bit of junk food or a beer.

in any case, I truly believe that no-homebrew diet is a nice thing to get you back on the track, but, I honestly believe that it could not have been the main reason for your condition. an acidic and low alcohol content drink might have contributed, but, in my experience, sweet cakes, and fat meat does more harm than homebrew and not in the quantities you have described. If you have had an allergic reaction to yeast, it would have shown in first weeks after you started drinking homebrew.

so, dont bury your bottles and gear too early and get well!

Hope you get better man.

I went through something similar a few years ago. Went through all the tests etc.. they said I was just fine.

I had headaches/bowel issues/sore stomach/dizzy/tired as hell/etc etc..

I finally decided to get tested for food allergies. I was at least partially allergic to a major of the food I ate. (I was also getting a runny nose after eating 90% of the time.) I went on a diet that got me off everything I was allergic too for about 6 months or so and I felt much much better. I couldn't drink beer for 6 months either :(

If you haven't yet a food allergy test might not be a bad idea!

However being I'm not a doctor and an avid beer drinker again, take my advice with a grain of salt :mug:
