Nothing has happened it's been 30 hours...

I got some English ale yeast for a clone stone levitation ale I did yesterday, 3pm?

Pitched at around 73 degrees, and I even made a yeast starter that morning which probably didn't really start so much.

The wort is in my garage and in a minifridge I hooked up to a temperature controller which might be a little off on the colder side...

The other thing is that yeast has been sitting in my fridge for maybe 3-4 months and the other day the fridge stopped working but held temperatures inside for maybe a day. Who knows.

Any advise is appreciated!

RDWHAHB.

Don't be afraid to give it a careful swirl and see if any degassing occurs. Extra aeration anytime prior to krausen shouldn't hurt anything.

Do you have a backup yeast packet?

Wait for a full 72 hours before commencing the panic. Grab an extra yeast pack just in case, though. After 3 days, take a gravity reading just to be sure fermentation has not yet started and re-pitch if necessary.

What have you used as an indicator that nothing has happened? You could still be in "lag time" if the wort is colder than you are used to or you may be looking for airlock bubbling when the excess CO2 is leaking out somewhere else. In any case, don't panic yet.

Are there any signs of krausen forming on top? Last time I got some krausen at around 24h but the detectable gas formation and gravity drop took a bit more time. Because the yeast is so old and you did not make a proper starter , it is going to take time. You could repitch if nothing happens in 48-72hrs.

Yeah I shook the **** out of it. Started up this morning so there it is! I believe it was going through respiration stage.
