So I just brewed Chris Night's Blonde Ale, my second time with this recipe. It went into the fermenter Saturday and I have yet to see a bubble in the airlock? I opened the lid to take a look inside and I see action going on. But no bubbles. Should I be worried?

The airlock has water in it, its filled half way is that enough? The lid is on tight I really don't know what else I could've done wrong.

yep I've got a secondary, when should I transfer to that?

I would advise against racking anything. He's seeing activity, so there's no reason to do anything. Yeah, there's a leak, but nothing's going to get in there.

Just give the beer 10 days or so and take a reading. Then, go from there with any questions you may have.

Remember, the motto is "Relax, don't worry, have a homebrew." No need to incite fear or worrying into anyone here.

Thanks for the info. Weird thing is though my pumpkin ale did the same thing last week. I'm using 5 gal. plastic buckets and I can't figure out where the leak is.

WOAH...I'm NOT inciting fear or worry...Just saying that if you think there is a problem with your bucket, you could go to secondary after 7 or 10 days just to ensure that when fermentation is over, nothing is getting in.
I'd also skip the secondary part...I always do!

When it's empty...put some baking soda and water in there and seal it up...see if it bubbles then.

The same exact thing happened to me with a hefe that I've brewed a zillion times. It turns out the lip of the bucket had a 4 inch crack around the rim. It was hard to find until I took everything apart, but it was enough to let all the gas out. The reason I didn't find it was that the lip was still there, so the lid seemed to seal tight.

What yeast did you pitch? Did you make a starter?

Where did you get the buckets ?Does the lid have a gasket? If not it will leak out from there. Leaks always take the path of least resistance. If there is activity just relax let it go and in 8-10 days take some readings. If its done rack to secondary and start another batch..:mug:
