Just wanted to say hello, and how incredible this site really is! i have been reading it for a few weeks, and have yet to brew my first (due to lack of equipment) but i keep getting more and more ideas that it seems i may never start! haha.. oh well i really want to get a son of fermentation chiller built first, an immersion wort chiller, and am looking into possibly a stainless conical fermenter(i work for a food processing manufacturer, so it would be pretty cheap for me to make) Anyway thanks for all the great ideas, and hopefully someday i'll finally make up my mind and start brewing!

also just wanted to say a quick thanks to Jay out of redding, who i talked to a few weekends ago who gave me some quick and dirty advice on getting started!

Dan

Welcome Dan. I like it, already building a conical in his mind and has yet to brew. Looks like your well on your way into this obsession. Have fun with your first batch and don't worry about it too much.

Thanks guys, i'm hoping after christmas season is over, i'll have enough cash to at least get most of this going and actually get to make something! oh well, until then i guess i'll just keep reading and dreaming (and drinking store bought beer :()

I'm in the good ol' valley... i live in Modesto, not the greatest, but all the family is here, so it's kinda hard to get away! how about yourself? what part of ca?

never heard of shandon, but after looking it up, it looks like it's pretty close to the coast so that's cool! My company does work down in hanford pretty often, all i can say is i hope shandon is nicer than the surrounding fresno area! ;)

Anyway thanks for all the welcomes everyone, and I look forward to brewing with the awesome support on this board!

yeah. i left morro bay when i bought my house here. the only bad thing obout living 1/4 off the ocean is the salt-fog corrosion. leave something out overnight and its rusty. shandon is good and bad. 100s in summer below freezing in winter. population 1200 "reported" and maybe another 1000 hiding out. (read illegal aliens. im surrounded by 30 square miles of wineries) my house was dirt cheap so what the hell.

happy brewing!
