Afternoon! Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Mick! Now I've always fancied making home brew, just never got round to doing it, until I had an idea to make a contribution to this years Xmas dinner. Now my sister in law can't have anything gluten based and wondered if there's any cider home brews out there suitable, or if there's any substitutes to recipes that can help.

I appreciate your time for reading this and look forward to ideas from you all!

Cheers, Mick

Welcome! I had a introductory post as well and got 0 replies. Either this site is full of snobs who are full of themselves, or the current users don't want more members. Im friendly tho, and i share... Everything.
No problem with the no gluten thing! Most wine yeast is gluten free. And cider is an easy one! Try using EC Lavin 1118. This particular yeast is super super vigorous, gluten free, and can withstand high alcohol along with low temps. Some people say it produces a solventy flavor but i disagree.
Try using like 2 gallons of cider, 5lbs of dark brown sugar, and 2 packets of yeast. Ferment in a clean pail for 4 weeks. Bottle or serve streight. I think thats the way most of us here got started with cider.
