New to growing when do they grow cones

I planted some crowns and small plants and a few rhizomes. The crowns are like 9 foot one is like 3 inches and the plants are 8 inches. How long till the big plants begin to produce cones if at all.

The first pictures I took last season that clearly showed cones was the first week of June. But last year was quite unusually warm from December onward in this region, and I'm thinking that was a month ahead of my 2011 season experience. But, figure some time in June you'll first see the tiny spiky flowers, followed by the beginnings of cone formation...
