I Wanted to share my RIMS setup now that it is complete. RIMS tube, Inkbird controller (IPB-16), and all fittings came from Brew Hardware. I attached the controller, RIMS tube and pump to wood which I painted black. Current process is as follows:

  • Heat mash water using RIMS tube
  • Heat sparge water using propane
  • Transfer sparge water to cooler to hold sparge temperature
  • Once the mash is complete I hook the pump to the cooler which has the sparge water and sparge until I have my desired pre boil volume.
  • Finally time to boil and chill

System is working well but I am still trying to figure out the Inkbird controller. I have done two dry runs with just water and the temperature holds perfectly. I have also brewed two batches and the temperature would fluctuate up and down by 4 degrees. Any suggestions? I am going to brew again next weekend so we will see if it works correctly.

Cheers!

Just curious: where did you get the shelf (brew stand) from? Was it a part of a table?

Got it at Sams Club a couple years ago...the bottom shelf is nice because I was able to attach the wood pieces with a bolt, washer and nut.
