how long do you think until any potential critters have met their maker?

It's in a friend's freezer. He said it could stay a week max.

Don't thaw, unless it needs to be milled . Go right into the mash

only got a week in the friend's freezer....i'm thinking a trip through the oven would be better then a freezer.....how them bugs like 170f instead of 28f......

Lol , yup . I've heard of tossing them in the mash alive . Lord only knows how much beer we've consumed that had an extra protein rest ;)

Are you going to brew with it right away or store it for a time? I wouldn't worry about the critters unless you are intending to store it till doomsday.

I've had bulk bags of malt stored for close to a year with the bugs in them. About a handful of floury bugs at the bottom of the bag was all that I decided not to toss in the mash, because it was simple to remove.
