Was bouncing around the grocery store today and found a new beer from New Castle. New to me at least. It's New Castle Werewolf - Blood Red Ale. It's pretty tasty. Has almost a porter taste. Anyway, if you see it give it a try.

I've tried it, not impressed. They have tried a few different ones; obviously trying to expand sales while working off the Newcastle Brown reputation. I bought some of their blond today for $6 for 12 to give it a try; I'm expecting that to be the right price for the beer.

I have never seen a 6 pack of that for less than $8.99. That probably is a reasonable price $6 for 12.

Old thread but I just had a couple of these on tap. I really like the malt but I think the yeast and hop choices really lower the overall effect. I'd love to take that malt bill and tinker with it using other hops and yeast.

Good idea, I hadn't thought that the hops is wrong with it(just because it wasn't mentioned) but I think that you are correct in that the malt is what they did an interesting job at, for all Newcastle beer. I only drank one in a sampler 6 pack but the color was maybe hard to get without red 40 which if they used would lose any respect I have for Newcastle. I doubt they would involve themselves in red40 food coloring.
