Used ball lock kegs.Considering finally making the transition to kegging. Any suggestions on equipment?
Perlick taps.Used ball lock kegs.
A chest freezer and temp controller.Perlick taps.
Used ball lock kegs.
Four product secondary co2 regulatorA chest freezer and temp controller.
Ball lock are taller and thinner, so you might be able to fit more kegs in your keezer depending on space. I can fit 4 ball locks in my 7.0 cu ft freezer, but it's a tight fit. Not sure if I could fit 4 pin lock. Ball locks were also more widely available as only Coca Cola used pin lock.Ball lock kegs seem to be the popular choice. What is the reason? Easier to clean, better parts availability or just less of a pain in the ass than pin lock/sanke/etc?
I have the controller. Working on a chest freezer. I'm thinking 7cu ftA chest freezer and temp controller.
If it cost $15 to fill a 5 lbs tank, it costs $18-20 for a 20 lbs tank. Makes no sense but for a few dollars more you get 4x the product.
No experience with that, but I imagine it's a decent deal if you're happy with having two beers on tap at a time. For a little bit more $ and some DIY, you could have a 4 tap keezer. That's the decision I'd be stuck with if I were you.anyone ever used one of these? is this a good deal at $400? i know very little about these sorts of things.

Time for a pump, a ss 20 gal mash run and a false bottom!Well I guess I'll be doing some upgrading before my next brew day.
Just took the lid off my igloo mash tun. Apparently I never cleaned it after last brew day back in May. The ball valve, thermometer and false bottom will survive but I have my doubts about the cooler itself.
Eh, first time I ever left it dirty in a hot garage for three months; maybe it was half on purpose.

why's that? You want a kegerator that doesn't have the compressor on the bottom.
