I assume this is to protect the product. Should I go ahead & wash this in soapy water as others have done? Don't wanna remove protective oil but don't wanna ruin head retention either. The actual grinding portion of the mill seems dry...

Also, anyone have a good power drill conversion link? Yes I googled, looking for recommendations...
 
I would wash it w/ a little soap and hot water, towel dry, then put it in a warm oven to dry. That's what I did.:mug:

To power with a drill, easiest way is to bring the mill to a hardware store to get a bolt that threads into the shaft, cut off the bolt head and chuck a drill.
