I'm switching to All Grain, as well as full boils. I picked up this 35-qt Aluminum Saf-T fryer to use as a brewpot. I think the whole thing was $70 on sale at Bass Pro Shop.

I was going to go the way of a cooler MLT. I have a 17 gallon cooler that I haven't used yet, and was going to convert it, but I might end up returning it. I'm thinking about picking up another one of these fryers. My main concern though is connecting a false bottom to the spigot. This is the inside, and I haven't been able to twist the spigot apart. I'm not sure how exactly it is connected.

So any thoughts?

I have that saame pot and love it for brewing. I use the cooler and don't use the spigot at all. It is just too high. You could fanagle a pick up tube for it, but I use a siphon. I think it is connected with a rivot. Not good for taking off :(

I vote for just using the cooler. How big is the hole for the spigot on the inside? It's hard to tell in the picture.

I believe it's 3/8", but not positive. I know the spigot on the outside is threaded and 3/8" screws on to it, but that doesn't necessarily mean the hole on the inside is.

Well if it is 3/8" then you could probably shove a 3/8" soft copper tube in there, you won't drain really fast (about 1/4" inner diameter) about the same as a racking cane I think.

Go for the cooler mash tun, if you are ever out my way I have an extra 10 gal cooler (Square) with spigot and SS braid already installed.
