I am 20 minutes into steeping my grains for a smoked porter extract kit. The two hops included are Styrian Golding and Perle hops.

Which is my boil or bittering hops, and which is the finish?

I'd call the LHBS but they are closed today. The instructions for the kit say add Gold hops at the beginning, and Williamette hops at 10 minutes left. There is no Williamette hops in my kit, so I just wanna make sure I add the right hops at the beginning. I'm assuming the Styrian Golding gets added at the beginning, but you know what assuming gets you.

Thanks!

I just found a hop substitution list and it looks like the Stryian Golding is a substitute for the Williamette. So maybe the Perle should be the first addition, and the Stryian added at the end?

Relaqx, Don't worry, have a home brew!!! :cross: Where did you buy the kit? Not Kettle to Keg, was it? Also, I'd do exactly what you are doing with your hops. Here's to a Great Beer!!!

Yep....it was K2K. If I had a HB, I'd certainly have one. This is my first brew in about 4 years now. Might have to settle for an Alagash I have in the fridge.

Thanks.
