A vending co. just gave me 5 coke kegs (they hav pins). What s the trick on lid removal? I was afraid that they may be under pressure.

first pull out on the pressure relief(located on the lid). this will release any pressure in them. Then pull the lever holding the lid, turn, and pull it out.
There are probably videos on youtube somewhere.

Thanks, found link under FAQs. I was able to remove 1 of 5 lids. The other 4 must be pressurized. These do not have a relief valve. I will purchase kit from local HBS in AM. I will relieve pressure after attaching lines.

Any idea of value of used 5g kegs

A quick google search will put you in the ballpark. Most people use the ball lock, so i dont know price of pinlock

You should be able to release the pressure in the keg by depressing a valve on the "in" post. I have ball locks so I can't tell you exactly what to look for but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

The gas in on pin locks is the post with 2 pins. The liquid out will have 3 pins.

The value is $15-$30 per depending on the condition of the keg and parts.

OK... Noob question here. How many gallons are these, and is there a pin and ball lock pic somewhere? I am only on my 2nd batch o'beer.
