What is the general procedure to follow when fining with gelatin, particularly for beer that will be bottled.

Thank you! If I followed this correctly, they added it right into the primary. Is this correct?

Update: I just added gelatin, after reading the Brulosophy article and learning the mixing and heating procedure. No means by which to cold crash, so I guess I'll see what it does for the brew. It was obviously cloudy and not clearing before the gelatin. Since it is a dry hopped IPA I didn't want to have to let it sit for weeks to clear up. I want it in the bottles while the dry hops are still doing their thing.

Yes, into the primary.
I'd try to chill it a little bit some how.
It'll still settle out in the bottles some when you put them in the fridge.

The only issue with not chilling first is that you won't clear up any chill haze. At room temp you'll still take out whatever is hazy at room temp (depending on the beers pH - gelatin doesn't always work to clear beer, which may be pH related).

I'm a bit more than one full day post adding gelatin, and even without chilling, it appears about 90% more clear already. I only took this route because I forgot to add Irish Moss to the tail end of the boil. And also because I'm brewing this batch for someone else, and not myself. The potential chill haze may be a problem. I have not been experiencing chill haze when I use Irish Moss.
