The design you are using is supposed to operate that way. An EZBoil draws less than 0.05A, and direct plugging that small of a load is not an issue. Having the EZBoil light up when plugged in gives you an indication that the panel is plugged in and receiving power.I know this was a while ago but I am attempting to wire the one with the DSPR300. However as soon as I plug the panel box in the PID comes on. Any ideas why this may be happening to mine? I went over your design and my wiring and all seem to match. Is the PID drawing power from the NC terminal on the pump/element jumper?
It is possible to modify the design so that the EZBoil does not power up until the main power switch is turned on. I have other designs waiting, so it will be a few days before I can get to this.
