Need dual tap keg recommendation

Hello, I am a first time poster here. My husband brews beer and is looking for a dual tap kegerator to store his homebrew and commercial kegs in. As he has 2 beers on tap most of the time, he wants a 2 tap one for Christmas.

I have done some research, but cannot tell the difference bet. the $1000 plus Marvel vs. the $499 Haier. From what I understand, he is most concerned about keeping the beer cold w.out it freezing-the kegerator we have now tends to freeze his kegs and he has a hard time keeping a consistent temperature.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks! I am def. going to pass this msg board onto him anyway, since he enjoys brewing and I am sure he would like to read up on it here. Thank you

if the 1 you have can handle the kegs, you can get an external temp regulator for it to help it out. otherwise, haier is the parent company of maytag.

I have a Haier. It works great, and holds 3 5 gallon homebrew kegs on tap. (I added another tap to the single tap tower myself)

You mentioned that he wants to keep 1 or 2 homebrews on tap and a commercial beer. Keep in mind that the Haier will hold 3 Corny homebrew kegs, but only one 1/2bbl commercial keg.

In other words, if he's got a 1/2bbl keg of something commercial in there, there's no room for homebrew.

As for your existing kegerator, look for a "Ranco" controller. You plug the fridge into that, and it runs the temperature. No more freezing the beer

He could probably get away with a 1/6 barrel of commercial, or possibly a 1/4 tall keg (Yuengling FTW!)

Absolutely - A Sixtel of Yuengling would sit quite well next to a corny of homebrew!

OP: Also remember that homebrew kegs and commercial kegs require different fittings to hook up, so there won't likely be any out-of-the-box solutions. You'll have to have an assortment of connections that can be swapped around. It's not hard, or terribly expensive. It's just not something that comes in the box with the kegerator

And if he has the courage (doesnt take much) to DIY then you may want to look into the dual tap tower that is going on sale at kegconnection for Black Friday.

It is really easy to build a kegerator and it looks like he already has a fridge that would work.

As far as homebrew vs commercial, I have a dual tap tower with MFL connections on my homebrew disconnects and sanke taps. That way I can switch between 2 commercial beers, 2 homebrew beers, or 1 and 1, on either tap.
