Wanting to bypass the thermostat on my Haier window unit. Do I just tie together the two black wires coming out of the bottom of the temp control knob? (yellow arrows) There are no other wires coming off of the temp control module.

I would imagine that would do it. It's hard to tell from the photo, but if one of the wires is coming from the general direction of the power cord, and the other is going to the compressor, then just wiring them together and bypassing the thermostat should do the trick.

When in doubt, use a multimeter. Test for voltage with the thermostat set to low or off, and then again when it is set to make the unit run. You should always have power on the input side, and only have power on the output when the thermostat is engaged. If this is what you find, then you can just go ahead and wire them together.

I used the information / diagram here to help me figure out which wires to bridge. Basically you'll need to trace the wires that go to the compressor and the fan and make sure they all get power. However; your solution may work with that particular model, but I couldn't tell you ya/ or nay without looking at the schematic for it's circuitry.
