I brewed NB American amber ale and bottled it on April 25 with the priming sugar provided in the kit. It is now May 23 and the beer is extremely flat. When poring the beer you get very little if no head. The beer has been in a closet at 72 degrees for over three weeks, any ideas on why it's not carbonating.
Thanks
Scott

Edit, by the way I used Gelatine on this batch, could it have wipe out all my yeast for carbonation?

Was it in primary for an extended period of time, like 6+ months? people might come on here and say that you havent waited long enough, I mean carbonation could potentially take more than a month, but I would say thats fairly uncommon. Gelatin supposedly pulls some yeast out of suspension, but it usually will leave enough to carbonate.

thanks for the repley. The beer was in the primary for 2 weeks and then in the secondary for 2 weeks. Kinda odd. I'll let it sit for another week, but I'm running out of beer..

Gelatin can remove the yeast from your beer causing it to not carbonate. I would pick up a packet of dry yeast and add two pellets to each bottle, recap then let them rest for three weeks. Do this one bottle at a time to minimize the chance of airborne contaminants getting into the bottle.

Have you tried to move these bottles around some to resuspend the yeast give them a week and try another bottle this may help

Took me about a month to get to the point of any noticeable carbonation. Yet magically around week 5 in the bottle I found it gained a serious amount of carbing(in that it went from pouring with no bubbles to a great head and nice lacing). As was said, give the bottles a tip upside down, or two, to get the yeast resuspended and the wait another week or so.

For what it's worth, I found the finished product to be delicious.

I'll tip the bottles today and see what happens in a week or two. Thanks for all the help
